The Magical Misadventures of Prunella Bogthistle, by Deva Fagan

The Magical Misadventures of Prunella Bogthistle     I just finished this book today, and I loved it! Prunella is not a very good bog witch at all. She has no warts and her curses never work. One evening, Grandmother leaves Prunella at home while she and the rest of her family are out and about. Prunella discovers a boy, Barnaby, snooping around in their garden. Rather than cursing him, Prunella helps him escape safely. When her Grandmother finds out, she kicks Prunella out, too! How will Prunella ever learn how to be a good, er, bad bog witch if she can’t learn at home? How will she earn the love of her Grandmother?

Prunella is a really fun and likeable character who uses her noggin to get out of dangerous situations. There is a twist at the end of the story that really surprised me. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys spending time in the outdoors, or anyone who wonders how she or he fits in. 🙂
